Classic Motor Yacht Restoration

MY Derson built 1937

MY Derson has been in with us for awhile now for a restoration to original design, plus some modernisation for reliability and comfort. We had to carefully manage being sympathetic to the original vessel whilst bringing some of the ships systems into the modern era, constantly looking at high quality fittings that complement the aesthetics of Derson.

Some of the work carried out includes:

• Oxley Marine designed teak and mahogany cockpit layout and sole that we continued throughout the boat

• Cabin sides and wheelhouse roof returned to original layout using old photos

• Stainless canopy poles, wooden canopy rail and custom sectional WeatherMAX canopy/enclosure made by OneSails GBR (East)

• Custom made vanity in the head

• Interior Varnish and painting

• LED deckhead lights, reading lights and low level cockpit lights in traditional style housings with cables hidden behind the mahogany panelling

• Made to template windows from Seaglaze Marine Windows Ltd

• Removal of sliding hatch in wheelhouse roof, replacement of deck beams and moulded panelling

• Hand made interior cupboard doors to match original style throughout

• Portholes and other chrome fittings removed and re-chromed

• New engines (2x Yanmar 110)

• New shafts

• Hydraulic steering

• Raymarine electrics suite

• Electric windlass

• Teak deck repairs

• All old through-hull fittings removed

• Below the waterline stripped back to bare wood, repaired where needed, caulked and painted

• New brass strips on bilge rails with silicon bronze screws

• 316 stainless steel fasteners used throughout

• Name hand painted on the transom by Signs by Matt

MY Derson has been moved to the local marina where we will do finishing touches, launch and sea trials.
